  • Southern Cross Goldfields (ASX: SXG) has intersected high grade gold within 40 metres of surface in a previously untested area at the Battler deposit, and shoots remain open up-dip and along strike to the north.
    Assay results include:
    - 6 metres at 19.1 g/t gold including 4m at 28.2 g/t gold;
    - 6m at 6.3 g/t Au including 3m @ 10.6 g/t gold; and
    - 11m at 4.5 g/t Au including 4m @ 10.6 g/t gold.
    Several intersections are up-dip of, and extend, current known deeper mineralisation within the planned Battler open pit.
    The results come from in-fill drilling program which commenced last month. Battler is one of seven key oxide deposits which form part of the company's  gold production strategy in the Southern Cross region of Western Australia.
    The company plans to establish a 400,000 tons per annum (tpa) gold processing plant at Marda and has an initial targeted production of 30,000 ounces per year over 5 years.
    The drilling program is part of a feasibility study to confirm and extend the current Battler JORC Mineral Resource Estimate which currently stands at an Indicated and Inferred Mineral Resource of 504,000 tonnes at 2.3g/t gold for 37,500 ounces gold of contained gold.
